Why I Should 'NOT' Be Hating HP?

Well... I am writing this with great emotions running inside me and I carry it for my Company with pride. I have been writing few articles around the corner of 2009 and don’t know who actually that may have impacted, but this one… I am writing it for myself... This gives me an immense pleasure to say that I don’t have any reasons to Hate HP, I consider HP as 'Helping Pal (HP), Hangover Place (HP), place to Harvest Professionalism (HP), Hub of Proficiency(HP) so on and so forth.... Why I don't hate HP? Yup... that's truely true... I have no reasons, because 'What a woman want' may be little mysterious but 'What an Employee want' is so predictable and the science of 'Knowing needs of an Employee' is well defined and sculpted within HP's book of Policies, HP caters the factor of inevitabilities of an employee and that marks an 'Employee Friendly' company. It may look little hazy to few that 'what I am talking about', but one has to redevelop and see things from 'Top' or inverted and comeout of the mindset that was snapped earlier or in the interim, you will then see the real HP in front of you... GO HP… Go….

I am in my 5th year now, yet…! when I enter the conference room with novices or with experts the presenter usually utters to the audience that "No question is a stupid question" this alone statement pass onto a highly motivated signal which automatically stimulates your listening and understanding power for the rest of the session. I believe most of the Superiors step-in the campus with reticence and modesty wraps on, irrespective of their behavioural characteristics outside, I have known some Managers who are so down to earth... I know they can win the entire extolments across the lanes they pass through. Where there is ‘good’ there is ‘bad’ and this is an universal logic that cannot be erroneous at any given moment of any life, so lets talk about the people who carry their Manager's tag on their foreheads with changed and chesty walking style. We know we will have to live with them and we all know 'their being' as managers is short-lived.

Ok... So I might be kind of diverting from the core of the topic... I am here to tell 'What is so special about HP'... I like the fact that if 'You have something unique to offer' you have so many people around you to hear-out your story, this is too good to be true at least for me because I haven’t seen anything like this before in any of the corporate. On the contrary there are set of people who are already designated to get the ideas popping out of their rotten brains and that undoubtedly helps in policies/governances creep-in into the rule-book to later make the life of an employee miserable with all his/her enthusiasm thumped against the rocky floor...'Thudded'…But whereas HP has a vast room for every evolving idea from any brain in the organization, ideas are respected to a large extent and then get all kind of sponsorships for driving it if liked by the management…

I was in US for 6 long years and always been little perplexed about my Working-home in India… Where do I go? How do I Assess? Who do I ask? Were the questions wandering inside me… What I assumed was the companies in India are little ‘Pushy’, ‘Very less friendly’, ‘long hours at your desk/cubicle’, ‘Your boss on your shoulder’, ‘Sleepless nights’, ‘imbalanced work-life balance’ etc… Well I had my final ‘ini mini miny moe’ when I had to shortlist a company to work with, after I had been through with for multiple companies… I think the angel on my right shoulder had tingled my brain and pointed towards HP and that was it… I am ‘in’ since then. Absolutely NO regrets… because my desire for high package was never in my options-list. Just to let you know if you want to be ‘Happy’ HP is place to work and if you are one, who thinks Money=Happiness then HP would be little disappointing.

You all might have seen companies who adores the performers and detest the non-performers, Companies like these create hundreds of innovative exit ways for these sourpuss folks, but whereas HP has a well built program for these guys which really comes handy handling such category. HP doesn’t believe in any person who from an acceptable study stream is dreary in anyways… HP has a very robust ‘see and analyze’ approach for this category of employees, HP strongly believes that their non-performing nature is merely because of non-alignment of ‘Corporate-requirement-2-the-skill-set-of-an-employee’, Manager along with other panelists study the employee’s interest and his strengths are calculated towards various job-roles that he/she might really is meant for.

IJP is another great tool that needs a little more leverage, I have seen during my early years in HP… this mechanism was very powerful and now there are few instances that have fallen flat on the face. Leveraging this mechanism should be highly indispensable for the fact to gain the employee’s Trust and Career. With a right sense of IJP in-place will benefit the careers of numerous employees, give them one single hard reason to get glued to their desks/cubicles and success stories will surely elevate the hopes of the employees who are still in the system waiting for their turn, thus bringing their dreams more closer to the reality.

I don’t know if you have come across the Phrase ‘Open-Door-Policy’, for me this was the phrase which really impressed me during my induction program. This 3 word phrase did magic for me, it actually hatched my introvert shell which later helped me being open and honest with whoever and whatever I am dealing with. If you really want your employees to get out their own personal contours and get mingled with HP’s social circle… Get this phrase into to the light for the people who are cozy enough being in their own nests. This Policy of ‘Open Door’ will pay a tremendous amount of confidence in the employee to take their grievances, disrupting factors, de-motivating issues and erupting thoughts to combat these forces to any door they like.

I have still energy to write more and endlessly on this… but ‘more’ is not the scope here… I think I have made myself very clear in posting my honest thoughts about my intent to stay with HP longer (unless I have other superseding reasons to part with HP) and trigger the awareness of HP’s goodness with employees either just stepped-in or the employees who never felt that there is a amiable set of policies that are hidden under the intranet carpet or may have been lost somewhere in the Management’s Old PSTs. There should be a drive of cognizance that brings-in the new perceived look of HP and let’s start living in freshness of the new aroma that we may have discovered today.
