It's about 'a being' fighting real hard to get off of the glutinous bed of ICU since last 92 days. Kawal has always been a mystery boy for all of us all through the time I and others had known to him, ‘mystery’ because... his expressions and acts never followed each other, his vigor and reasons never synched to a meaningful gesture, his dips and highs in life had same behavioral characteristics.
The first day I met Kawal was in Windsor Manor, Bangalore... Yes, the 5 star hotel where Bangalore's Royal Challengers and Kolkatta's Knight Riders were hosted, for their kick off match of the mighty IPL, but anyways.... we were there for a 3 day ITIL training. He was introduced to me as one of my team member in the same process and very soon he was my buddy, waiting no more I counted him in my likeminded list.
Kawal...! as I know him was a very light hearted and hardly seen his weary face in any given circumstances. There was something lacking in him and holding him back very strongly, he could not project his potential to the extent that he actually could. What was it? What was holding him from back? Why is he not making that efforts to come out to show his real talent? Who is his family ? Where are they? Why is he all alone? Does he have any problems? What kind? Can I help him? And.... so many questions may arise in one's mind.
Kawal was punctual and I don’t think he had any words like 'No', 'Not', 'Don’t' or others beckoning the negative signal in his dictionary. For every conclusion we arrive to, his answer would be a BIG nod with his strong acceptance and his 'Pagdi' would make a 180 deg inverse pendulum swing. Dedication and sincerity was most obvious and usual ingredients of his temperament. His silent and sober behavior was often finds a dreary character in him but behind his abstemious looking temperament there was something rotating somewhere deep in his mind with an immense velocity often concealed by his cool textured smile and sometimes he misses to hide it, hence makes it too obvious for us to do the guess work…
Surprisingly! with no time gap… He would return to his typically looking ‘Kawal’ and makes us realize that we have made fool of ourselves. He will never let us peep into his personal entanglements.
He had put an airtight lid on his emotions then and now he is playing the same game with his motionless attitude… A sunken Kawal with bony face and sagged forehead on the bed of ICU with no expressions, neither a sign that would stimulate us to think on his improvement. His dehydrated lips, his eaten-up muscles, consistently shrinking body, his motionless pupils, his involuntary feeble movements… What made him to be in this situation? Who did it? How did it happen? Why did this happen to him? Numerous speculations run through mind and even these questions are thirsty of being justified… The answers are there somewhere in the air... floating. In the hope that these answers get composed and come into light someday... the silence of ICU be broken someday, the pupils make a meaningful gesture someday, a smile land on his lips someday, blood flows normal through his veins someday, 'Oye Paaji' he utters someday....
The Night of 27th Aug 2009, I received message that Kawal was met with a minor accident and being treated in a nearby small hospital. It looked a like a normal incident but ended-up in a fatal. However, I rushed to the hospital and saw him groaning and struggling in with doctors and nurses on the causality bed… he was tied-up tightly in order to minimize his wild movements that were obstructing the hospital folks in examining him. A well contented and controlled Kawal is transformed into an angry, restless and raging tiger losing his benevolent and humane behavior slowly and steadily.
Lets all make a serious efforts to make him understand that....."Bahot hua, ab tho aajaa... mere yaar, sab thera rasta nihaar rahe hai"... We'll pray and make a wish to the almighty to elude him from this painful expedition he is being in and this long.....

ReplyDeleteMy interactions with Kawal flows in front of my eyes like a movie. Thanks Meer for summing up what Kawal is to all of us.
I and many of my friends on Face Book are holding the vision that he sits on his hospital bed , reaching out for his daughter to run to his embrace. You can do the same. If his will is not strong enough to guide him out of his Coma..we need to be his cheer leaders. Those of you close bye visit him and talk to him with the purity of your heart. He will hear you and he will become stronger from it. God bless...we believe he will recover.
ReplyDeleteWith God's Grace and Prayers done by all his friends. Kawal has started showing some improvement very soon he will come and stand with all of us. Keep on praying for Kawal
