The Unforgotten Era- The School Chapter

Its odd of the odds that I am here writing this piece of experience. Who would know that I was standing in a shabby tea shop near the united church of nirmal nagar (Defence Colony) and taking sips of insipid tea with my old good friends just a few days back? And this is happening, I must say after over a decade… (Or may be close to 2). The torrid lives we had as part of our lives before ’86 are indeed unforgotten, they just fared into my life teaching me ‘nothing is bygone, surprises are yet to arrive’.

The life was a journey of agitations and contentions all through, nevertheless these happenings make your way to energize and fuel your soul to drive towards a felicitous life. This is NOT me, its my emotions that are emanating within me. I may be overreacting with the situation I was/am into, I am sure, majority of folks that I am known to would share the same feelings… for others I will just tag them as ‘inhumane’.

We with White shirt and Navy blue short are the days that I want to plunge into and live to the maximum magnitude…yet again (can I? may be..Lets try!!).

I still carry the glimpses from the golden era  'The assembly.....the Kneel down outside the class..... the test copy distribution....the CCA period....the fantasies....the Shav Aasans.....the Kho-Kho match.....The exchange of tiffins.....the chitchat in the class.....the torture of class leader....the stroll towards Bison canteen....the March-past practice.....The most hated ‘b’ section....the stories from Sultan singh sir....the copying when writing tests....the lefty slaps from hindi teacher......the amar chitra comics....the bullying over weak…..the tempatation to join NCC... so on so forth. These memoirs from that times seems to be so lively and making their way out in our active lives now.

I met few fantastic guys so far, me not addressing them in here would be an injustice to this note of mine. The tea session that I had referred earlier in the passage was the moment of my life recovered from the past and started sprouting inside…and when the tight hug from Rajesh Nair (when we met first time after decade(s) )has forced me to realize that this guy does have that element of benevolence, though I had a varied version of feeling for him during those amateurish days ;)…. While I did not get along so well with Rajesh KM in the class he he he, but I am beginning to believe now, he is the one I should have been associated with. He has a ‘Kilometer (KM)’ of shoulder-2-shoulder width (I am not joking ;-))…and who knows he has that built to hide a ‘Big Heart’ beneath, a very noble personality to share your time with. That night we shared snippets picked from each section of our school life, we made every attempt to elongate each discussion intentionally just to stay longer and not breaking the rhythm that was just tuned up.

So, good things happen to good souls and good intentions… Look so real. Everyone is waiting for the day when we get bundled-up in a group to excavate more stories amongst us. While Sajender is getting some Bangalore breeze to Hyderabad, Balaji has promised us to entertain us with his gimmicks and surprises! Vijayender will get the party in control with his inherited ‘monitoring’ skills. And let’s hope Pavan takes us to the rollercoaster of nostalgic arena.

Stay tuned for next edition…. Cheers!
